We regret that the internet bookshop is now closed. This follows persistent difficulties arising from fraud prevention and ensuring that customers credit card transactions were not compromised in any way. We made the decision to withdraw from internet trading, at least for the time being, following 'hacking' which had the effect of customers being diverted to a bogus credit card details form.

An extensive range of books is available mail order, or to personal callers from The Theosophical Society, 50 Gloucester Place, London W1U 8EA Tel: 020 7563 9815 (12-7 pm). A range of books and audio cassettes are available from Gloucester Place
A catalogue is available upon request.

All the recorded lectures shown (and many more) are also available from Gloucester Place.

HELENA BLAVATSKY. edited by Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke.
220pp Softcover
Publisher: North Atlantic Books, Berkeley, California.
£12.95

Ideas of reincarnation, karma and Tibetan wisdom owe much to H. P. B1avatsky, foremother of New Age religion. Russian-born, she travelled in search of esoteric truths throughout Egypt, the Middle East and India. A gifted psychic, her main claim to fame is re-introduction of the teachings of Theosophy (Greek for Divine Wisdom), based on revelations by secret Mahatmas, who offered spiritual guidance to humanity. The rapid expansion of the Theosophical Society in Europe and America spurred the popularity of Oriental religions and the modern occult revival. HPB became a legend in her own time and is as visible today as any modern guru. This volume of the Western Esoteric Masters series offers a concise anthology of her extensive writings. An essay on her life and work is followed by editorial commentary on such topics as cosmology, anthropology, gnosticism, hermeticism, kabbalah, the vedas and Buddhism.

Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke is Director of the Centre for Western Esotericism at the University of Wales, Lampeter.

MAN - A UNIVERSE IN MINIATURE.
Joy Piper.

'In this book I have attempted to explain the nature of man's existence and his place in the world. It is concerned with the problems associated with his 'human-ness' and all that it implies - his joys and his sorrows, his bewilderment when he faces the depths of his own ignorance as to how he should live his life. It is my hope that this work may provide a basic structure for your research and study, and that you will feel encouraged to embark upon your own quest for knowledge of this wonderful Universe... '

THE RIGHT ANGLE: H. P. Blavatsky on Masonry

'The committing of so much of The Secret Doctrine to writing by H. P. Blavatsky under the supervision of the Masters was unique in the world's history. It was, in effect, a direct statement from them. No previous teacher of the Masters' stature, including the founders of religions, had themselves committed their teachings to writing. Though much of this material was later largely ignored - even altered - the original is still available to students. There is no evidence to show that, in spite of her many Masonic associations, HPB was ever formally initiated into the Craft. Her involvement was incidental to exposition of the teachings of Eastern Occultism. HPB learned her Occultism, including the Masonic secrets, directly from her Master.'
