OPENING DOORS TO PERCEPTION
Welcome to the 12th edition of the e-newsletter of
The Foundation for Theosophical Studies.
This will tell you all about the events we are holding
over the next few months at the
London headquarters of the Theosophical Society in
England, and also in future of events at some of our
local
Lodges throughout the country.
Many lectures are recorded and can be
purchased on CD or tape, so that those of you who
subscribe long distance can still listen to the
first-class teachers who speak at the Theosophical
Society.
This edition introduces our new April-July
2007 programme, OPENING THE DOORS TO
PERCEPTION. It features
both established and new speakers, including
Diane Wolkstein, author of Inanna,
Queen of Heaven and Earth: Her Stories and
Hymns From Sumer,
who will be introducing a study day on the myth of
the
descent of the goddess. The previous day the
myth
features at the British Museum, with an
afternoon
seminar and Diane's performance of the myth
in the
evening.
This is a very exciting programme, and we look
forward to welcoming you to 50
Gloucester Place.
Very best wishes,
Colyn Boyce

THE THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY |
|
|
|
The Theosophical Society was founded in
1875 by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and
Colonel Henry Olcott to disseminate the
Ageless Esoteric Wisdom.
Madame Blavatsky published her major
works, Isis Unveiled in 1877 and
The Secret Doctrine in 1888.
Ancient Eastern esoteric spiritual teachings,
such as those of the Egyptians, the
Tibetans and the Vedic Seers and
Yogic Rishis of India, were revealed
alongside the Western Mystery Tradition,
including Alchemy, Gnosticism and
Kabbalah.
Theosophy itself is not a religion, the
Society is non-sectarian and non-political and
welcomes everyone, regardless of race, creed or
gender.
Most events are open to non-members but
we encourage membership from all who support
our three aims:
1. To form a nucleus of the Universal
Brotherhood of humanity without distinction of race,
creed, sex, caste or colour.
2. To encourage the study of comparative
religion, philosophy and science.
3. To investigate unexplained laws of nature
and the powers latent in man.
The Theosophical Society has branches
throughout the world in around 50 countries, each
with local branches (38 in England)and events. The
International headquarters is at Adyar, Chennai,
India.
