DISCIPLES IN THE NEW AGE
Welcome to the fourth e-newsletter of The
Foundation for Theosophical Studies, which lists our
events this week at the London headquarters of the
Theosophical Society in England.
This week we welcome Sarah McKechnie
from the Lucis Trust, who is giving the
Sunday lecture. This follows our policy of
brotherhood with other spiritual organisations. It is
an wonderful opportunity for TS members to learn
about the Lucis Trust.
George McNamara will be leading two visits
to the British Museum, on Saturday and
Monday. In the printed programme the date was
given as 10 February instead of 12 February, so
George has decided to do both! Meet at the
Museum, details below.
Also on Saturday, at 50 Gloucester Place, The
Dhyana Centre is holding an introductory
afternoon for beginners in meditation.
Meditation is one of the most important
spiritual
practices we can do - there will be more on this in
future newsletters - and Alan Perry is an
excellent
teacher with many years of experience. We urge you
to come along.
Thank you for all your comments so far about the
newsletter and the sign up process. Please let us
have more! Don't forget to forward this
newsletter to your friends and fellow TS members
and encourage them to sign up! And if you can't get
to 50 Gloucester Place, remember that you can buy
CDs or tapes of many of
our lectures.
Very best wishes,
Colyn Boyce

interpret it we will deeply examine the Pythagorean
meanings of the nine single-digit numbers. Come

so compare it with your actual life so far. The
insights you gain will fill you with compassion and
wonder for the journey you are on. Clemens
Brenan is a psychic consultant and healing

6 pm: THE PATH OF DISCIPLESHIP IN THE NEW
AGE
Sarah McKechnie
Discipleship can be defined as the stage of the path
of evolution in which the aspirant knowingly pledges
to impose the will of the soul upon the lower nature.
In the new age this commitment to cooperation with
the soul will increasingly be expressed through group
responsibility and world service. Sarah
McKechnie is General Secretary of the Lucis
Trust and is Editor of its magazine, The
Beacon

2 pm: THEOSOPHICAL GALLERY TOURS:
Gods and Goddesses of many cultures
British Museum - Meet at the main
entrance
London’s Galleries and Museums are a storehouse of
all the world’s riches, many of which have meaning
from a theosophical perspective. George McNamara
is leading another short series of visits to galleries on
Mondays at 2 pm for members of the TS, inquirers or
friends. Though he’s not an expert in any of these
topics, he hopes that a small group can pool
understanding and sensitivity to art and history (and
have a piping hot cup of coffee too).
Phone George on 078 8181 3242 to catch up if
you are delayed. You can also email George on
george@whatever-will.be
TUESDAY 30 January 2007
7– 8.30 pm: THE SECRET DOCTRINE
Leader:
Victor Hangya
In the midst of today’s materialism and ruins of old
religions you are invited to join the excavation of the
perennial wisdom! The tool used in our exploration is
The Secret Doctrine, which claims ‘logical
coherence and consistency’ and expects to be
treated as a ‘working hypothesis’, so freely accepted
by modern science. The SD sheds light on some of
the greatest mysteries concerning Man, God and the
Universe. Victor Hangya has been exploring the
Ageless Wisdom for more than 20 years.

ASTRO-NUMEROLOGY AND YOUR LIFE STORY |
|
|
|
Several centuries ago mathematics became divided
from numerology in the western mind.
Consciousness
and spirit were removed from maths to put it to
practical, mundane use. But in numerology
numbers
are still imbued with spirit, consciousness, and
meaning. Thus numerology is the study of
spiritual
qualities of numerical pattern. And since in the world
of the esoteric, nothing happens by chance, and
beginnings are reckoned to be full of significance,
then the date of birth of any being can be found to
be full of meaning.
One of the great exponents of esoteric numerology
was Pythagoras, who in a later incarnation
became the Master Koot Hoomi, one of the
esoteric co-sponsors of the Theosophical
Society. The
Pythagoreans believed that the basis of Reality
was number, and that even the gods could be
compared to numbers.
Welcome aspiring seers! In the course starting this
week, we will plunge undaunted into the sacred art
of divination. Our purpose? To boldly examine fate's
role in painting our life's rich tapestry. Our central
focus will be the numbers of Essence. This
magic indicator reveals tendencies that dominate our
life during their years of operation. For instance,
according to this system Madame Blavatsky
had three years of 18/9 Essence from 1874 to 1877.
This augured three years of large-scale endeavour of
a humanitarian or philanthropic nature. And so it
was. During this time she worked prodigiously to
launch The Theosophical Society,
which came into being in 1875.
So we will calculate our own Essence numbers,
among other indicators. We'll share and discuss our
charts with each other. And we'll compare them to
the actual story of our lives. Look forward to
personal insights and revelations during your seer's
apprenticeship!
